Coolangatta
We may be a little biased, but Coolangatta is the probably the best town in the World! Why?
Affectionately known as “Cooly” by its friendly and down-to-earth locals, this once-humble beachside town has transformed into a thriving entertainment and holiday destination.
Coolangatta is a paradise boasting breathtaking sandy beaches and world-class surf breaks. The north-facing beach is protected from prevailing southerly winds, and the warm subtropical climate invites you to enter the water 365 days of the year.
After a day at the beach, you can indulge in amazing restaurants, shopping, and entertainment events and venues that are all at your fingertips. For entertainment seekers, Coolangatta hosts the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro surfing championships, Cooly Rocks On (Australia’s largest Rock ‘n’ Roll and nostalgia festival) and the Coolangatta Gold (One of the most challenging endurance races in surf sports).
Coolangatta's infrastructure design is forward-thinking and allows for easy living with an abundance of free parking, ocean walks, and grassy parks to hang out with family and friends. It is also home to a university, hospital, and an international airport, all within a five-minute drive from the town centre. Additionally, a light rail is planned to link Coolangatta to Surfers Paradise in the not-too-distant future.
